Basque immigrants in Europa: migratory process and psychological adjustment In recent years Basque migration to European Union countries has increased. This paper presents the characteristics of the migration processes and psychological adaptation of this population according to gender, and identifies the variables that explain the psychological adaptation and settlement. The sampleis made up of a group of Basque immigrants in other European countries (n = 86) and an equivalent control group of Basque non-immigrants (n = 63). The results show that there is a migration process without major difficulties and without significant differences between men and women. The psychological situation of Basque migrants, compared to non-migrants, is similar or better. On the other hand, it has been found that the achievement of migration goals and a better current situation compared to the expected predict psychological adaptation. Finally, it is observed that when the Basque immigrant population has a good economic and social situation in the host society, the probability of remaining there is greater.
