As is often the case in the development of an educational curriculum, three levels of specification are distinguished. In the first level of specification, the general student exit profile for elementary and compulsory education is defined. The second defines the studentspecific exit profile. And, based on the preceding two levels of specification, the third consists of proposed teaching units, area by area, to be applied in the classroom for each academic year. In this article, we concentrate on the third specification of Primary Education and turn our focus to the classroom, offering a proposal for examining local cultural heritage such that teaching and learning are aimed at achieving the tasks of this final stage. Although we focus here on the Debagoiena region in southwest Gipuzkoa, we believe that everything written in our previous works can be usefully applied to any town or region.
