Abstract

This paper aims to advance the study of social representations of violence against women in the university population of social education (N=125). From the theoretical framework of Social Representations (Moscovici, 1961) and based on a participatory methodology, differential meanings and shared meanings on issues such as the causes of the violence and the strategies to prevent it, are analyzed with a double objective: a) contribute, as a preventive measure to review and correct any myths and misconceptions that may interfere on professional performance; b) provide information of interest to complement the future training of the professionals as they will be involved in the prevention and treatment of the violence against women
