Abstract

The most exciting moment of the Basque Bard Championship (Euskal Herriko Bertsolari Txapelketa Nagusia) has arrived, bringing us all together at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre and livening our heartbeats. The things we perceive, see, listen to and feel here today are a meaningful milestone, the arrival at continually renovated crossroads.  The purpose of this work is to study cultural symbolism in the context of territorial creativity, and for this reason we will describe Dan Sperber’s starting point with regard to symbolic mechanisms, the central concept for narrative culture on the stage. In the same way that this space reflects an end, evocation and memory are important in the constructive and creative process as they are built on an acquired cultural basis. This is how we understand the connection between the contents of evocation/memory and collective imagination as part of the basis of the cultural symbolism experience, which is where we see the most important cultural values reflected.  The contents of collective images and memory reflect social changes.
