Abstract

The aim of this research is to advance in the study of identities and representa-tional dynamics of immigration and cultural minorities, using a sample composed by diffe-rent cultural groups (Maghreb, Latin-America and East Europe). Using the free association of words technique, the perception that immigrants in the Basque Country have about their cultural group and other minorities is analysed. As a result it can be said that Latin-American people have a perception linked with the origin place, latin character and positive qualities; of the people from Maghreb, it is emphasizes the ignorance and ambivalent representations; and of the people coming from the countries of the East, also ignorance, and the perception of proximity and good people. Also, the systematization of their psy-chosocial profiles would allow knowing the position of each representation in the different cultural groups and their differences with the social and communitarian trajectories from this population.
