Given the proliferation of student plagiarism involving the Internet, this study was intended to understand the academic plagiarism among university students and how they cite and reference the information they found on the Internet. The study was carried out at Mondragon University (Basque Country). Quantitative data was collected using two questionnaires, and qualitative data was collected through five different focus groups. Participants were students and their teachers. Findings suggest that students don’t understand the importance of citing and referencing the information they use in their academic research. Students think they don’t plagiarize but teachers think plagiarism is a real problem.Downloads
