Abstract
Allergy is the most common chronic disease in Europe, and its incidence continues to increase in developed countries, mainly due to pollution. Allergic diseases can cause many and varied symptoms, but they do not appear in the same way in everyone.
The treatment of allergies is based on three main pillars: avoidance of allergens, the use of specific immunotherapy, and pharmacological treatment. Various medications have been used for different types of allergies over the past decades, but in recent years significant advances have been made in genetic engineering techniques, opening the door to new therapeutic agents for allergic diseases.
