Abstract

This paper focuses on the subjects of housing policy and sustainable develop- ment. Its motivation is the lack of balance between the development of housing policies and environmental sustainability on regional scope. In this work, housing is contextualized firstly in the theoretical framework of sustainable development, putting in common aspects related to the urban-model, land-use and so on. Secondly, using this theoretical framework as a reference, we revise housing policy and planning at the Basque Autonomous Community, confronting the abovementioned discussions in the European context. Thirdly, as a case study the neighbourhood of Antondegi, in Donostia is presented. Finally, conclusions and future work is described.
