Abstract

The purpose of this research is to revise the Maturity Indicators of the Human Figure Drawing in the Basque country. A sample was made up of 539 children (269 boys and 270 girls), aged between 4 and 8 years. The participants came from private and state schools (public schools) and Basque-speaking schools (ikastolak). The assessment was carried out using Koppitz´s Assessment criteria (1974). The results revealed that some Maturity Indicators are achieved at an earlier age than Koppitz´s suggests. This has given rise to the updating of the data and criteria found in this present research. Besides, the statistically significant differences between girls and boys in some of the Maturity Indicators have led us to maintain independent correction tables for the two sexes.
