Abstract

This article explains the main points regarding the introduction of the fiduciary euro. First, we summarize the transition process to the euro. Second, we describe the basic legal framework of the euro. Third, we show what kind of coins and banknotes in euros we are going to use. Finally, we focus on the process of introducing the fiduciary euro in Spain, which implies the substitution of coins and banknotes in pesetas for euros
