In recent decades, pornography consumption has significantly increased, raising concerns about its potential consequences. Analyzing the possible effects of pornography consumption requires reliable and valid assessment instruments. The aim of this scoping review was to identify instruments used to assess this consumption and analyze their psychometric properties. A literature search was conducted in the Inguma, MEDLINE, PSICODOC, PsycInfo, Scopus, and Web of Science Core Collection databases. Sixteen instruments were identified. The results show that: 1) The instruments generally demonstrate acceptable evidence of reliability and validity; 2) Most instruments have been validated with samples over 18 years old; and 3) The number and meaning of dimensions vary across instruments. The diversity in operational definitions of pornography consumption highlights the need for a standardized definition of the construct. This would enable the development of more precise assessment instruments and the design of more effective interventions to address the effects of pornography consumption.
