Abstract

Lately, several European nations without state are set to or have already carried out political processes to decide their legal, political and institutional future, declaring their right for self-determination or their right to decide. The concept of the right to decide has walked nothing but a short distance at the academic level, and filling that intellectual vacuum is one of the goals of this research. That in mind, we will study the strategy of Basque and Catalan nationalist movements towards secession, demanding the right to decide rather than that ofself-determination.
