This article presents the main conclusions of a qualitative research that analyzed the ways in which negotiations are managed inside self-defined egalitarian couples. In this way we analyze the role of everyday life decisions and negotiations in this egalitarian couples. Different aspects will be analyzed: negotiations on distribution of housework and care work, economic management and romantic love, among other aspects. One of the main conclu- sions is that gender equality is a goal for this type of couples but there are major obstacles to its realization. A way to overcome the obstacles of gender roles is the negotiation itself and these couples are aware of it, but this idea is opposed to the romantic love ideal.Downloads
