Abstract

This article analyses the professional practice of the journalists working in the context of the convergence process set underway by the media group Goiena Komunikazio Zerbitzuak, Koop. E., which provides local news about the county where it is located. Our aim is to determine the multimedia profile of these journalists. Our starting hypothesis leads to the consideration that the Goiena media group has reached a high degree of media integration, which, while not complete, is orientating its efforts towards the coordination of news amongst the four media – press, television, radio and Internet - in a unitary and shared form. In the short term, this will result in the physical unification of a single multimedia, or convergent, editorial committee and the newsroom. To carry out our work we have employed the qualitative-participatory method.
