Abstract

In this paper, the author analyses the use of the determinant in place-names in Bermeo because the use of these quite often causes certain doubts. In our corpus the determinant doesn\'t appear in all place-names, and when it appears (as for instance, in farm-names) it doesn\'t do so in a systematic way. The variants without determinant interfere with the variants with determinants. The article or determinant has not arrived to all place-names. The denominations with article are related to generic names. Most of the names finished in consonant take one final –e. This is the most expanded tendency in the collected corpus.
