Abstract
he aim of the study was to analyse the influence of the quality of family context in relation to child development. To this end, the quality of family context, parenting styles, and marital adjustment and conflict were assessed, along with the level of development and cognitive skills of a sample of 551 five-year-old children (boys, 54.3% and girls, 45.7%) from the Basque Autonomous Region. Results: a medium-high level of quality of family context (48,3%), a assertive parenting style in values and attitudes to parenting (96.7%), a medium-low level of marital conflict (65.3%) and a medium-high level of children’s psychological development (49.7%). The study highlights the need to develop parent training policies, in order to facilitate family interactions conducive to children’s psychological development.Downloads
