Abstract

The article starts introducing some characteristics which determine every traslation of the Bible: the three original languages, the different sources and contexts, its literary character, the abundance of books and the coherence of the language’s style, the communicative side, the fact of being a kind of literature linked with life-dynamic, the old and numerous existing traditions on the matter... Then, the paper analyses the specific characteristics of this basque translation known under the title of Elizen arteko Biblia: the use of the original languages, its condition of being a result of a group-work, the participation of both Protestants and Catholics, the purpose of resulting easily understandable... The article concludes mentioning the last translation criteria gotten by the team and problems they have had within the business.
