Abstract

Beta-lactams are essential in the treatment of most infections. A significant percentage of the population reports being allergic to beta-lactams, and most are not actually allergic. This may lead to an inappropriate treatment of infections and have a direct impact on mortality. As health workers, we need to be aware of the importance of this fact, and it should be our diary duty to find out if this allergy tag is real or not. For this purpose, it is essential to know the structure and the chemical similarities between beta-lactams always in cooperation with the allergologist.
