Herritarren zientzia euskal kostaldean: mikroalgen eta meiofaunaren datuen baliozkotasunaren azterketa

Abstract

"¡Atención! ¡No me aplastes!-Kontuz! Ez nazazu zapaldu!" is the first inclusive citizen science project in the Basque Country, created in 2023 to study the microscopic biodiversity of sandbanks. Microalgae and meiofaunal organism observations are carried out by citizen scientists. This work has analysed the validity of the data collected by citizens' scientists. For that purpose, the number of taxa identified, and the observations made by citizen scientists have been compared with the data obtained by experts. About 80 % of observations of microalgae and meiofaunal organisms made by citizen scientists have been accepted. This indicates that the data obtained by citizen scientists are suitable to be used in further environmental science studies.
