Abstract

Despite significant progress in genomic research, knowledge about the exposome remains limited. The exposome refers to all exposures an individual experiences throughout life, including numerous non-genetic environmental factors, such as the presence of chemical compounds. Among them, endocrine disruptors, which are commonly found, are outstanding, and there is an extensive list of reproductive disorders in women associated with them. In this study, in collaboration with the INMUJERES project, clinical cases were analyzed after validating an analytical method for detecting several endocrine disruptors in follicular fluid. Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was employed for the identification and quantification of these compounds. The results underscore the urgent need to understand the impact and risks of these emerging compounds.
