This research aims to explore the interactions between Basque nationalism and gender, emphasizing the importance of integrating a gender perspective into the study of nations and nationalism. Designed as a doctoral thesis, this study will examine how nationalist women in the Basque Country perceive the nation as subjects, focusing on how they understand and experience the nation, as well as the discourses they construct. Additionally, it will investigate women’s participation and roles within the basque nationalist movement, alongside the influence of feminist movements on these dynamics. Centering women’s narratives, this research seeks to address a gap in understanding the relationship between nationalism and gender, both in academia and in broader society.
