In January 2022, the Ministry of Education and Professional Training issued proposals for reforms to improve the initial training of female and male teachers. Since the beginning of the 21st century, science has proclaimed the need to review initial training. Similarly, several countries at the international level have taken the step of improving training. This communication analyses the situation in Spain, analysing the characteristics of the initial training of teachers, comparing it with the guidelines of international organizations and science. As we have seen, training has remained the same since 2007. Consequently, from an internationally dominant perspective, it is neither aligned with current educational reality nor based on evidence.
