Carbonate platforms play a crucial role in understanding past environmental changes, as they preserve evidence of marine ecosystem variations. In the platforms that developed within the Basque-Cantabrian Basin between 125 and 100 million years ago, researchers have identified a significant increase in carbonate sediment of microbial origin, along with anomalous enrichments of glauconitic minerals. These anomalies suggest notable shifts in sedimentary and diagenetic environments. This study aims to investigate the origin of these anomalies and the associated environmental changes. To achieve this, field work and laboratory analysis will be carried out to investigate the relationship between the geological processes that may have occurred in the basin and these anomalies.
