The increasing integration of renewable energy sources into the electricity system is key to meet the future climate objectives. As these energy sources replace the conventional synchronous generators present in the system, stability problems may arise due to reduced inertia and system power. Therefore, grid connection codes require renewable energy generators that are connected to the grid to fulfil these functions. In this work, different controls of grid-connected converters will be analysed to meet the requirements of the grid code for low voltage ride-through capability. From the obtained results, it is deduced that classical converter control can deal with three-phase sags, but unbalanced grid control functions are needed to support grid unbalances.
