Partikulen azeleragailuetan mikrofoniak kontrolatzeari buruzko oinarrizko kontzeptuak: MADRC algoritmoa

Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to explain in a simple way the basic concepts for the acceleration of charged particles in particle accelerators, as well as to publicize the work that we are carrying out in the field of microphonic control. In this way, through this informative work, it is intended to make knowledge about these machines more accessible to the non-scientific public, which are undoubtedly a scientific milestone for humanity. To do this, first of all, a brief exposition on the uses and importance of particle accelerators in today's society is made. Afterwards, the theoretical bases are raised to understand the operation of these machines, explaining basic concepts such as Lorentz forces and resonances. Finally, special emphasis is placed on the so-called resonant cavities, which are the devices in which the particles are accelerated. Our work deals with a current problem suffered by superconducting cavities (SRFs) called detuning by microphonics. Said detuning derives from mechanical disturbances suffered by the cavity and translates into a loss of efficiency when transferring energy to the particles. In this way, the solution that we propose (control algorithm “Modified Active Disturbance Rejection Algorithm” or MADRC) is also briefly mentioned and the results obtained to date are exposed.
