Abstract

We have studied the non-linear dynamics of the axion-inflation model. The analysis is based on how the gauge fields backreact on the inflaton dynamics by using lattice simulations, where we simulate all degrees of freedom simultaneously. In addition, we have compared the results from our lattice simulations with those that use analytical approximations and where inhomogeneous effects are neglected. We conclude that in order to correctly describe the inflationary dynamics, it is crucial to consider the full inhomogeneous equations, and it is necessary to recalculate the current bounds and constraints from the phenomenology.
