Abstract

CEMIP is a protein with increased expression under chronic inflammation-involving conditions such as cancer, often linked to extracellular matrix remodeling and tumor progression. As shown in this work, motility of skin fibroblasts, key components of tumor microenvironment in cutaneous melanoma, was regulated by cellular CEMIP levels. Moreover, secreted CEMIP, both by fibroblasts and melanoma cells, was also able to modulate skin fibroblast migration.
