The purpose of this project focuses on the quantification and qualification of the resulting effects produced as a consequence of pedestrian prioritization at Eixample district, Barcelona. To achieve this, it has been pursued a commercial analysis of the streets directly affected by this situation as well as their immediate surroundings. The analysis embraces first of all a global synchronic diagnosis of the district, followed by a diachronic recording of the economic activities regarding ground-level shops placed in the St. Antoni’s Superblock area from 2008 to 2022. As a result, it can be concluded that pacification leads to a decrease in commercial diversity and also produces a tendency towards monoculture in bars and restaurants industry.
