In the multilingual education system of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, where two official languages (Basque and Spanish) coexist and a foreign language (mainly English), it is essential to design effective curricula and teaching interventions in order to optimize language teaching. This is precisely the aim of Integrated Language Treatment: to design coordinated curricula across languages. In this paper we have focused on teacher training and analyzed the global projects designed by 114 students of Primary Education degree in order to find out the degree of development of both linguistic and didactic competences required by plurilingual education in the Basque Country.
