Habenular nuclei link and regulate brain structures crucial for different motivational and cognitive states. In addition to neurons, glial cells (astrocytes, microglia and oligodendrocytes) that express CB1R in the plasmatic membrane also participate in these processes. In this work, the effect of changes in the glial cells, astrocytes and microglia, of the medial habenula has been studied. To do so, on one hand, CB1R has been eliminated in the astrocytes of mice and, on the other hand, models of mice depression have been studied. The response of these mice to negative stimuli has been studied using behavioral tests. After these, the counting and morphology analysis of glial cells, astrocytes and microglia, was done. Results suggest that the astrocytes and microglia cells of the medial habenula are involved in the mechanisms of behavioral changes.
