Tadarida teniotis is an insectivorous bat which hunts in wide-ranging aeroespace. In order to study its diet, faecal samples collected from three colonies in the Iberian Peninsula (Lérida, Segovia and Huelva) were genetically analysed. 1107 prey species belonging to 16 orders were identified in the overall diet, 106 of which formed the core diet. The most consumed order was Lepidoptera (moths) and the most consumed species were Arhopalus ferus (Coleoptera) and Rhodometra sacraria (Lepidoptera). Even so, significant differences in diet composition were detected between the different colonies and between the different seasons. In conclusion, the diet of T. teniotis varies according to insect availability.
