Abstract

The polyurethane market is the sixth most produced in the polymer industry. Polyurethanes are obtained by mixing polyols and isocyanates. In recent years, the awareness of protecting the environment has become more and more prominent, and for this, the polymer industry needs to make several changes. One of these changes is the abandonment of fossil fuels and the use of raw materials obtained from renewable energies. For this, this study develops the synthesis of polyols that make up polyurethane, focusing on the synthesis of monomers that are bio-based.
