Abstract

European socialist tradition met turbulent attempts of strategical redefinition in the last decades of the 19th Century and the first of the 20th. The spreading of this movement, however, took place full of ideological clashes, so it ended up gathering varied positions. The most prominent continuities and breakdowns between the movement leaders were in fact caused by the different views on the political power and the behaviour towards the State.
