Abstract

Leishmaniasis is spreading in Europe and the main treatments available exhibit several disadvantages. This paper aims to address these two aspects. Leishmania infantum parasites have been isolated and identified from a lymph node sample obtained from a dog with leishmaniasis in Navarra. The leishmanicidal activity of the compounds R38 and R38-P has been studied. Compound R38 is a promising drug against leishmaniasis due to its ability to reduce the percentage of infected macrophages.
