Abstract

Polymer industry has grown non-stop in the last decades, since it has become essential in our lives. Between the different types of polymers that we have, polyhydroxyalkanoate type polymers have shown excellent properties, and furthermore they are bio-based and biodegradable. In order to obtain this polymer, in this project we are trying a new synthetic path started from a β-ketoester. This compound was asymmetrically reducted by enzymes to obtain β-hydroxyesters. This β-hydroxyesters will be able to produce polyhydroxyalkanoate type materials.
